Meet Our Honoree:
Syed Zaki Hossain is a respected entrepreneur and philanthropist whose lifelong commitment to giving back has supported communities across Long Island and around the world. Through his charitable work, Hossain has focused on improving access to health care, education, and essential resources for underserved populations.
Originally from Bangladesh, Hossain earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and later received a Master of Science in Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn, New York. After a successful career in the manufacturing industry, including founding Modern Packaging Inc., Hossain has dedicated much of his time and resources to philanthropic efforts.
On Long Island, Hossain has made significant contributions to health care and hunger relief. His generosity led to the creation of the Zaki Hossain Center for Hypertension, Diabetes, and Vascular Disease at Nassau University Medical Center, helping expand specialized care for Nassau County residents, particularly those who are medically underserved. He also played a major role in supporting Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, helping fund the organization’s 43,000 square foot facility, now named the Rahat and Zaki Hossain Campus.
Hossain has also contributed significant funding to introduce a workforce development program at Molloy University and established the Zaki and Rahat Hossain Scholarship Endowment Fund to support underprivileged students.
Internationally, Hossain has funded computer literacy programs for schools in Bangladesh, supported hospital training programs across the country, and helped build educational facilities for underserved students.
Hossain also founded Pintail Coffee in Farmingdale, New York, a charitable coffee company where 100 percent of profits are donated through Island Harvest to help feed those experiencing hunger.
Through his leadership and generosity, Hossain continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others while inspiring a culture of service and compassion.
