A Special Day for Life’s WORC

Sep 17, 2021

On Friday, September 17, Life’s WORC executives, Board Members, staff and program participants gathered in Islandia to celebrate the ribbon cutting of our new Day Habilitation facility. They were joined by special guests, including State Senator Alexis Weik, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, and Life’s WORC Founder Victoria Schneps-Yunis.

In addition to the ribbon cutting, there was another cause for celebration. Steve Bellone presented Victoria Schneps-Yunis with a proclamation honoring her commitment to the community, the 50th Anniversary of the organization she founded, and her dedication to making a difference in the lives of others – officially declaring September 17 as Victoria Schneps-Yunis Day in Suffolk County. This is especially fitting since the date also marks the anniversary of the closing of the Willowbrook school, which was the beginning of her journey toward the founding of Life’s WORC.

Congratulations Victoria!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the new Day Hab facility possible. We look forward to continuing Victoria’s mission and making a difference in the lives of even more people through this new space.
