This year the Life’s WORC staff and their families enjoyed Family Day on Friday, August 13, at The Bronx Zoo. Despite the hot and steamy weather, the day was a huge success, with more than 700 people attending. Staff members who were working in their programs that day had the opportunity to come Saturday instead, totaling another 225 people.
The Life’s WORC “Celebrate With Us” Committee prepared a welcome packet of goodies for employees and their families, with a Life’s WORC t-shirt for all staff members, making it easy to spot each other throughout the zoo. In addition, a covered pavilion was reserved for everyone to gather for lunch, which enabled staff members to socialize and get to know each other’s families.
Staff and their guests were able to enjoy all of the exhibits, take a ride on the monorail or trolley, and visit with the animals. Peacocks and flamingos greeted guests as they came in, and the gorillas were a big hit.
It was a great day celebrating together, and just one way that Life’s WORC shows our employees how thankful we are for them. We appreciate each and every one of them, particularly those in direct care who overcame the challenges of the past year and work tirelessly to support the people in our homes and programs.
We can’t wait until next year’s event!
