Pre-Funeral Arrangements

Funeral pre-planning removes the burden or concern for a family member to assume this responsibility in the future.

Life's WORC Pre-Funeral Arrangements

We’re Here to Help You Plan

Trust beneficiaries who are eligible for Medicaid or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are entitled to pre-fund their funeral expenses by setting up what is known as an irrevocable pre-need funeral agreement. These trusts allow Medicaid and SSI recipients to set aside and designate funds for the sole purpose of paying their funeral and burial expenses.

All beneficiaries should consider funeral pre-planning, unless they have a family member or advocate to assume this responsibility.

These funds, under state law, cannot be counted as a resource, so you do not have to worry about them affecting SSI/Medicaid eligibility. However, Medicaid does not allow for trust funds to be used after a person passes away, so paying for a funeral after a person passes is not permitted with first party trusts.

Many of our trust beneficiaries use Cooperative Funeral Fund to pay for their pre-funeral arrangements. The funds you set aside can be used at the funeral home of your choice.
