In March 2021, Life’s WORC got things moving with the #LWFitChallenge. Residents, program participants, family members and friends were challenged to a virtual 5K in support of those in our community with intellectual challenges, developmental disabilities and autism.
We asked participants to pledge to walk, run, roll or bike a total of 5 kilometers during the month of March, and invited people to sponsor our homes to participate as well. The results were incredible! The #LWFitChallenge raised over $11,000, with nearly 200 people participating, including people we support, their families, and friends of Life’s WORC and the Family Center for Autism. We were excited to have 13 of our residences taking part in the challenge, with the top three homes winning pizza parties. Participants were entered into raffles for gift cards, gadgets and the grand prize – an electric bike! Congratulations to all of the winners, and to all of those who completed this virtual 5K.
The challenge was a great success. Thank you to Vanessa Rogan and family, and members of the Life’s WORC Board of Directors for your support and hard work to make the #LWFitChallenge possible.
Thank you to the Long Island Press for the news coverage as well.
