Education & Vocational Classes

The Family Center for Autism’s new Teaching Trades series of classes introduces craftsmanship as a hands-on, practical skill that extends beyond the length of the program. With the internet, farmer’s markets and local boutiques, it is easier than ever to get hand-made products, and there is a wide interest in them. In our Teaching Trades series, participants learn how to create a specific, high-quality product that when finished can be sold in a variety of settings. Interest and income overlap in this program, and participants will learn to independently and skillfully create an item that can be sold for a profit. Items made in these classes will be sold in the lobby of the Family Center.
